Perle Blanche

New product for white wines

Perle Blanche barrelSpecific know-how is required to make an excellent wine from the white grape varieties Chardonnay, Sauvignon, and Semillon. Such know-how can be further enhanced by a barrel that is specially designed to help impart an exceptional palette of aromas.

This was the driving force behind Tonnellerie NADALIE creating the "Perle Blanche" barrel.

Background

It all started in France's forests, where Jean-Jacques Nadalie selects hundred year- old oaks for the "Perle Blanche", paying special attention to their noble appearance plus the finesse and straightness of their grain. In the timber yard the staves to be used for the "Perle Blanche" receive special treatment: First they undergo specific sequences of watering before being left to the vagaries of the sun and wind so as to obtain ideal tannins over time.

Customised toasting

During manufacture the barrel is bent over a wood fire and then undergoes a unique process to prepare its aromatic finishing. During the toasting , a patented air supply and humidity control device confer upon the barrel its distinctive organoleptic characteristics. Barrels toasted in this extra special, long and gentle way come in two types for your white wines:

Fruity: the fruit aromas are emphasised.

Spicy: the spicy aromas are highlighted.

On the strength of this information and thanks to meticulous work over several seasons, Tonnellerie Nadalié recommend their "Perle Blanche" barrel for the excellence of your white wines.

Tasting notes

The tasting notes below, made during the development of "Perle Blanche", are a perfect illustration of what we sought to achieve. This research owes nothing to chance; it is the fruit of a development process started three years ago. The "Perle Blanche" barrel is the result of meticulous work.

"The wood is discrete, mellowed, subtle, accompanying and enhancing the length of the aromas. The fruit brings forth hints of cinnamon in the finish, as well as suggestions of cloves, with perhaps also a roasted touch. Together, they exude liveliness and crispness. As for the colour, it is a brilliant gold that shines far beyond the glass."
